"...Uplifting Resurrection:(...) I believe that this performance of Mahler's "Second" can be seen as an extraordinary one, in fact as a little “fete”...) For the ultimately impressive results takes the Austrian conductor Alexis Hauser(...) the lion's share. The performance of the symphony was not short of climaxes, its various parts carried different moods whereby that omnipresent mourning and a certain philosophizing, sometimes mystical sound were maintained throughout. Evidently, all instrumental groups took pains to live up to this crucial test in a most honest manner, - an extraordinary task indeed...The public's response to the concert was spontaneous."
